Skaland mine on Senja island, northern Norway, has supplied European industry without interruption since 1932. Single mine, single origin, full traceability from ore face to shipment. Ore grade 31% Cg — the world's highest for any operating flake graphite mine, resulting in lower processing energy and a smaller carbon footprint per tonne than any competing source.
The Skaland graphite mine sits on the island of Senja in Troms county, northern Norway. First exploited commercially in 1932, it has operated continuously for over 90 years — one of the most reliable and documented graphite sources in the world.
The deposit is geologically exceptional. With an average ore grade of 31% graphitic carbon — the world's highest for any operating flake graphite mine — Skaland requires less ore per tonne of product than any comparable operation globally. The resulting concentrate averages 91% Cg, upgradeable to 99% Cg with further processing.
Today Skaland is the largest natural graphite producer in Europe and one of the leading producers globally, processing approximately 40,000 tonnes of ore per year.
Graphite is classified as an EU Critical Raw Material. Skaland mine is strategically important to European battery and industrial supply chains — and fully traceable under EU battery regulation requirements.
Norway's renewable energy advantage: The Skaland processing facility runs on Norway's near-100% hydro and wind electricity grid — giving Skaland graphite one of the lowest upstream carbon footprints of any graphite source globally (~1–2 t CO₂e/t vs 5–10 t for synthetic graphite).
All grades available as flake, powder or special-processed. Custom D50 on request. CoA, REACH declaration, MSDS and Country of Origin certificate included with every shipment.
≥80–91% Cg. Foundry additives, carbon-paste electrodes, refractory bricks, carbon brushes, steel plant linings.
≥94–96% Cg. Lubricants, coatings, EMI shielding, EDM, brake pads, gaskets.
≥98–99% Cg. Li-ion battery anodes, graphene precursor, advanced composites.
